Together data and sharing

A shared session, with a clear view of what you share.

What the service stores

Creating or joining a room sends its room name, your chosen display name, session times and identifiers to Latch’s service on Cloudflare. The service also stores membership and reported session states, including when focus started and the latest status update. It uses random member credentials and a hashed invitation secret to control access. It does not need your email address, Screen Time app selections, guardian PIN or browsing history.

Who can see it

Anyone with the complete invitation link can preview the room name, session times and participant count, and request to join while joining is available. Members can see display names and reported session status. Status is reported by each device and can become unavailable; it does not prove what someone did on their phone. Choose a room name and display name you are comfortable sharing.

Keep invitation links private. The host can replace a link to prevent new joins through the old one; existing membership is separate. Opening a link does not join a room or start focus. Each member reviews their own focus rules.

Leaving, deletion and expiry

Leaving removes your current membership from the service. A host deletes the room to remove it for everyone. Room data is scheduled for removal thirty days after the current session ends; beginning an agreed next session moves that expiry to thirty days after the new session ends. Local history and copies already seen or saved by other participants are separate.

Removal from active storage does not immediately erase provider recovery copies. Cloudflare’s database recovery window can retain earlier copies for up to another thirty days. Its network infrastructure processes IP addresses and other service information. Stored Worker invocation logs, traces, Logpush and Tail Worker exports are disabled in the reviewed deployment.

Invitation pages

Invitation pages on latch.family are hosted by Vercel. They do not fetch the private room or automatically join it. Latch excludes invitation routes from its website analytics events and sends a no-referrer policy. Vercel still receives the page request, including its path, to serve it.
