Rules for using Latch apps, this site, and related services.

Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a legally binding agreement between you and Latch (“we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to and use of the Latch app, this website, and any related services (collectively, the “Services”). By downloading, installing, or using the Services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to download the app from the App Store. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. By using the Services to configure a device for a child, you represent that you are the parent or legal guardian of that child and have authority to do so.

The Services

Latch provides tools to configure internet and app boundaries on iPhone and iPad. Protection is enforced through a local DNS filtering extension and Apple’s Screen Time framework, both of which run on your device. We do not operate a remote server that processes your traffic. Features may change over time, and some functionality depends on iOS version, system permissions, and network conditions. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that filtering will block every possible piece of content in every circumstance — no filtering solution can make that guarantee.

Subscriptions and billing

Latch Premium is offered as an auto-renewing subscription through the Apple App Store.

  • Billing. Your subscription will be charged to your Apple ID at the price shown at the time of purchase, and will automatically renew for the same period and price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
  • Auto-renewal. Renewal charges are made within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. Your Apple ID will be charged automatically upon renewal confirmation.
  • Cancellation. You may cancel at any time through iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions or through the App Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access until then.
  • Price changes. If the subscription price changes, we will notify you in advance. Continued use after the new price takes effect constitutes acceptance.
  • Refunds. All purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple’s terms and refund policies. We do not process refunds directly.
  • Restore purchases. If you reinstall the app or switch devices, you can restore your subscription by tapping Restore Purchases in Settings while signed in to the same Apple ID.

Subscription management is handled by Apple. For billing support, contact reportaproblem.apple.com.

Accounts

Latch uses Sign in with Apple for account creation and recovery. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us if you believe your account has been compromised. You may delete your Latch account at any time through Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app. Deleting your account removes local Latch account data and the Apple account identifier stored on that device; your App Store subscription must be cancelled separately.

Acceptable use

You agree not to do any of the following.

  • Use the Services in violation of applicable law or the rights of any third party
  • Attempt to circumvent billing, authentication, guardian controls, or other security mechanisms
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Services, except where such restrictions are unenforceable by law
  • Use the Services to monitor, surveil, or track any person without their knowledge and lawful consent
  • Distribute, sublicense, or resell access to the Services
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Services or related systems

Intellectual property

All rights in the Services, including the app, its design, code, and content, belong to Latch or its licensors. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Services on your personal device for personal, non-commercial purposes, in accordance with these Terms and Apple’s Usage Rules. No other rights are granted.

Third-party services

The Services interact with third parties whose own terms and policies apply.

We are not responsible for the practices or content of any third-party service.

Disclaimers

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranty, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Internet and app filtering has inherent limitations — no solution can guarantee that all unwanted content will be blocked in every circumstance, or that the extension will always be active. Latch does not warrant that the Services will operate without interruption, error, or that any defect will be corrected.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Latch and its officers, directors, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from or related to your use of or inability to use the Services. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to us in the twelve months before the claim arose or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100). Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Latch and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Services, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time if we have reason to believe you have violated these Terms, for legal or regulatory reasons, or for operational reasons with reasonable notice where practicable. You may stop using the Services at any time. Upon termination, your licence to use the Services ends, but provisions that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will remain in effect.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles, unless your local consumer protection laws require otherwise. You and Latch agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Delaware for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, unless applicable law prohibits such a choice.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also have rights under the consumer protection laws of your country of residence that cannot be waived by contract.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Services evolve. We will post the revised version at latch.family/terms with an updated date. For material changes, we will provide notice inside the app or by email where we have your address. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
